What’s Your Approach To Work?
June 5, 2024
There is a very interesting quote attributed to Martin Luther King, Jr (I could not find any source directly connecting to Martin Luther King) that says
“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”
This applies to what we do in our lives every day. Our approach to work can be a mere ‘tick in the box’ or a ‘routine,’ or we can choose to show up and truly express ourselves. Opting for the latter not only adds meaning to our work but also safeguards us from the perils of career stagnation.
