Pick Two. Get The Rest Elsewhere

Pick Two

My world this week- Long haul red-eye flights, meetings, clients, catch-ups, administrative chores, confused sleep patterns.

I am flying back home and writing this from the skies.

Is this it? The rhythm of a typical career……..busy, demanding, often a blur.

As I think about this, I am reminded of a gem I came across recently. (A quote by Jason Falkovich !!)

“You won’t get money, status, fun, impact, and career capital at the same job. Pick two. Get the rest elsewhere in your life.”

It’s true. Chasing everything in one place is a trap. Work gives me impact and career capital right now. The fun? That’s waiting at home this weekend. So is rest.

The trick is knowing what you’re getting from work—and what you need to protect outside it.

Balance doesn’t come by default. It comes by design.

And on that note-I’m logging off. Time to refuel.

  • This is a Gem indeed. Looks like I just wanted to read this quote from long. Gives rest to anxiety of getting everything at same place at the same time.
