Who Works For Whom?

AI is becoming increasingly good at measuring the work we do.

How quickly we respond. How many calls we make. How much we produce. How closely we follow a process.

Think about it. If your work is mostly tasks a machine can measure, then every day you spend getting better at those tasks, you are quietly teaching the machine to do them without you. You are training your own replacement, and being efficient about it.

So there is a choice to make, and it is not a small one.

We can keep competing on the work AI can measure, and lose, slowly, because that is a race the machine is built to win.

Or we can hand those tasks to AI and move toward work that is much harder to reduce to a score. Understanding a customer. Solving an ambiguous problem. Bringing people together. Exercising judgment. Taking ownership of an outcome and leading something from idea to execution.

AI will become increasingly capable at doing tasks end to end.

Our job is to become increasingly capable at owning outcomes.

The goal should not be to work for AI.

It should be to make AI work for us.
