Helping folks with practical tips to manage themselves better

Three Truths

three truths

If you are in any sort of people business- parenting, leading, project managing, etc.- there are three truths you need to accept.

If They Wanted To Or If They Could, They Would

When the other person doesn’t do your bidding, it’s always for one of two reasons. Either they don’t want to, or they are unable to. Nothing else. So, if you find yourself struggling with someone who is not doing what you want them to, accept this fact- if they wanted to or could, they would.

You Cannot Make Anyone Change

People will behave and act the way they are conditioned to. You cannot make anyone change the way they operate. It’s futile. At best, you can inspire them to a point they are willing to change. People change when they want to change and not because you want them to.

Everyone Is Unique And Will Not Be Who You Want Them To Be

Everyone is different and comes with their own set of beliefs, values, and fears. Don’t expect others to conform to your expectations and behave a certain way. You are sure to get disappointed. Stop being upset with others for not being who you want them to be. This last point is especially true for parents.

When you accept these three truths about other people, you get better at dealing with your relationships.
