Who Is Going To Stop Me?
October 4, 2023
One of my favorite quotes of Ayn Rand from her first book, Fountainhead, is-
The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.
I love this quote because it reminds me of the autonomy we all possess in shaping our lives the way we want it, according to our desires and ambitions.
Far too often, we hesitate, seeking permission or validation from others before pursuing our aspirations. We create imaginary obstacles, worrying about the disapproval of a faceless figure who might stand in our way.
The truth is external validation is not a prerequisite for pursuing your aspirations. When you are resolute and clear about your goals, people are often supportive and willing to let you follow your path. Taking the initiative and showing determination can open up opportunities and create the space for you to thrive. True empowerment stems from self-belief and seizing those opportunities, regardless of external approval.
In most situations, the world around us is more than willing to accommodate those who are driven and relentless in their pursuits.
