Weekend Story-One More Drop

one more drop

Riya wanted a “big day” to change her life.

One perfect workout that would get her fit.

One brilliant idea that would change her career.

One bold conversation that would fix a broken relationship.

Every time life looked the same the next morning, she felt cheated.

“Nothing moves,” she told her grandfather. “I keep trying.”

He took her to the backyard and pointed to an old stone under a tap. The tap was slightly loose. A single drop of water fell every few seconds. The stone had a deep groove carved into it.

“Which drop did this?” he asked.

Riya stared at the stone.

“There is no single drop,” she said slowly.

“That’s how change works,” he replied. “You’re waiting for one big effort to do what only many small efforts can. Stop hunting for the perfect day. Make today one more drop.”

Months later, nothing “dramatic” had happened. But her clothes fit better. Her work had more ownership. A relationship felt lighter.

No miracle. Just the quiet power of showing up, again and again, like water on stone.
