Permission To Rest
July 8, 2026
The wedding is done. The guests have gone home. Tomorrow I fly my parents back to Bangalore and return to a quiet house.
And I am exhausted. Deeply, completely exhausted.
My instinct, like always, is to get back into routine. Answer the messages. Restart the engine. Be productive again.
But today I am choosing something else. Nothing.
We rarely give ourselves permission to stop. There is always a reason to push on. Yet after every big effort, the body and the mind present their bill. You can pay it now with rest, or pay it later with interest.
Today, I am paying on time.
“Rest” is not a break from progress. It is part of it.
