Action Relieves Anxiety

Action relieves anxiety

This evening, one of my teammates updated me on some challenges my team was facing in a client implementation—serious enough to potentially damage a relationship we’ve built on trust. The news unsettled me. My mind started racing, mapping out worst-case scenarios. The more I thought about it, the heavier the anxiety felt.

Later in the night, my team and I got on a call. We unpacked the problem, layer by layer. As the discussion deepened, possible solutions began to surface. Slowly, the clouds of worry gave way to the first rays of clarity. My energy shifted. We weren’t sitting on the problem anymore— we were working on it.

That’s when it hit me: it’s hard to fear a problem you’re actively working on it and making progress. Even if that progress is imperfect or slow, action loosens the grip of anxiety.

The issue isn’t fully resolved yet. There’s more work to do tomorrow. But tonight, I rest easier—because momentum has replaced anxiety.

Action relieves anxiety. Always.
