Not Every Question Is Asking For An Answer

question

There are questions in life that need answers.

Which treatment should I choose? Should I take this job? Is this relationship still right for me?

The answer changes what you do next. Seek it. Ask. Investigate. Do not hide behind patience.

But there is another kind of question.

Why did this happen to me? Why did someone change? Why was I not chosen? Why did life turn out differently from what I had imagined?

We often believe we need the answer before we can find peace.

Perhaps we don’t.

Sometimes the mind is not seeking truth. It is seeking an explanation that will make the discomfort disappear.

And life does not always provide one.

I am beginning to think there is a simple distinction:

If the answer changes your next action, seek it.

If the answer changes nothing except how you feel, learn to hold the question lightly. Don’t get too hung up on finding the answer.
