Everything Takes Longer

everything takes longer

Something I’ve realised after chasing enough goals is this: everything takes longer and is harder than you think. I plan the actions, the milestones, even the outcomes. What I rarely plan for is patience when things don’t go as expected. Being clear about the goal creates the illusion of ease; execution teaches otherwise. You try, learn, adjust, and keep going as delays test your expectations.

The problem is rarely the goal or the strategy, but how quickly we expect results. Achievement, when it finally arrives, comes from staying patient and persistent long after the original timelines have expired.

Every goal has a hidden requirement no one puts into the plan: the ability to endure long delays without losing conviction. The gap between intention and achievement is rarely about skill or strategy. It is often about staying in motion when progress feels invisible, when outcomes don’t match effort, and when expectations are just not being met.

Achievement is endurance disguised as consistency. Goals take longer, patience runs thin, but achievement comes to those who keep showing up.
